Heritage Advisory Services

Stephen Booker, the nominated architect and director of carste has guided many projects for adaptive reuse to a successful conclusion.Even as Heritage Advisor for Port Macquarie Hastings Council and Kempsey Council, a large part of the role is in guiding and advising on appropriate intervention, and change on the nearly 400 heritage items that those Councils control. In Port Macquarie, Amanda Smith (Area Manager – Hastings) from DECCW (private mobile 0439585813) has consulted with me in relation to Roto House and its surrounds and can attest to my capability to advise and assist with precipitating a positive outcome.

In Kempsey, design advice has been given to the Kempsey Showground Trust in the reactivation and adaptation of the showground pavilion as a function centre, with commercial kitchen and amenities improvements. The building works, much to the fervour, passion and tenacity of the late Janet Hayes, have transformed the Showground from an almost derelict agricultural ground to a vibrant and viable place of entertainment and innumerable expos and functions.
